- 📍**Kuwait** 🇰🇼
There's something captivating about the lights of the big city.
Here are a few facts you might not have known about Kuwait:
- Despite being small in size, Kuwait ranks 6th in the world in terms of oil reserves.
- The country is led by a prince.
- It's one of the hottest countries in the world, with summer temperatures often exceeding 50 degrees Celsius.
- Kuwait lacks sources of fresh water, such as lakes or rivers, so they rely on desalination processes for all their water needs.
- The significant American influence has made it possible to find almost all American brands here (although they are now unofficially boycotted due to the situation in the Middle East). When the first McDonald's opened in Kuwait, the drive-thru queue stretched over 10 km.
- Kuwait only gained independence from Great Britain in 1961.
- Social media is huge in Kuwait, and besides Instagram, Snapchat is the most popular! When you meet someone, they'll often ask if you have Snapchat.
If you've been to Kuwait and know something else interesting about this country, share it below 👇🏻

- 📍Antananarivo, Madagascar 🇲🇬
Now officially welcoming you to Madagascar and starting to share stories, as much as my internet connection allows.
Madagascar has long been on my wishlist. It's the 4th largest island in the world and, on the flip side, the 4th poorest country. We reached the capital of Madagascar, Antananarivo, from Budapest via Paris, with AirFrance (the round-trip ticket cost around €750). The rainy season has just begun, lasting until April, but here I am on the 7th day, and not a drop. Everything is cheaper now because there are no tourists.
The flight from Paris took about 11 hours, and we arrived in Tana (a nickname for Antananarivo) late at night. Money exchange at the airport goes smoothly (the currency is Malagasy Ariary, and you get around 4500 ariary for 1 €), as well as buying a SIM card (20 GB for less than €20, not bad). The first night, we stayed in a hotel 500 m from the airport. We contemplated walking, but it's nighttime, and despite having a robust Bosnian companion, we won't risk it and take a taxi.
English is not widely spoken. The official languages are Malagasy and French. Malagasy is also the language spoken by the people of Madagascar. Salama, veloma, misotra... Hello, goodbye, thank you in Malagasy.
The next morning, we head to the center of Tana, towards the new hotel we saw half an hour earlier on Booking.com. A misunderstanding with the taxi driver, we end up in front of a completely different hotel that we end up liking more, so we stay there (Grand Urban Hotel, a recommendation 👌🏽).
Despite expectations of feeling unsafe in such a poor country, the atmosphere during the day is entirely different. So many smiles, like nowhere else. People in Madagascar are very kind! A market, a few sights, and in the evening, a fancy restaurant recommended by a Frenchman we met at the hotel who chose to retire to Madagascar...
The temperature is pleasant, up to 25 degrees Celsius during the day because Tana is located at about 1300 meters above sea level (it cools down nicely in the evening, so we didn't feel the need to take off our jackets when we got off the plane).
A very relaxed day and a good introduction to what lies ahead. We have 3 days of driving (you read that right, three) to the location we are most excited about. Because roads in Madagascar... #tobecontinued 🌞🏍️💃🏽

- 📍 Alger, Algeria 🇩🇿
The more I travel, the more I long to travel 🌍
What's the name of that syndrome, and does anyone else suffer from it? 😁
Whenever I visit a destination I didn't know much about before, I always think anew, "God, our world is so vast, and time is so limited."
In the capital of Algiers, we're spending another day that started with breakfast and coffee at one of the most authentic hotels I've ever stayed in, the El Djazaïr Hotel (that's how Algiers' capital is called in Arabic; 3rd photo). This hotel opened its doors in the late 19th century. Many famous and historically significant figures have stayed here, such as Che Guevara and Winston Churchill...
Next, we visit the El Hamma Botanical Garden, a visit I wasn't particularly looking forward to until we arrived. I thought, "What can be so special about a botanical garden when I've seen plenty of them?" However! The Dragon Tree Avenue (1st photo, characteristic of Yemen's Socotra Island, a place I've been eager to visit), the bamboo avenue (no need to go all the way to Japan for that), palms reaching the clouds, and vines... Later, I Googled and found out that this botanical garden has been declared the most beautiful in Africa and the third most beautiful in the world when considering its size and the variety of plant species.
Finally, the Palais des Rais, or Bastion 23, one of the historically most significant buildings in Algiers. Although I haven't been to Portugal, I would say its interior architecture is reminiscent of that country. As a lover of colors and patterns, we couldn't have bid farewell to the capital of Algiers in a better way as we embarked on our adventure in the Sahara...
Please share your impressions of Algiers, the capital. Did you envision it this way, and how do you like it? 🎋💚🌴
