Launched in Dec 2021, the most powerful telescope ever made has reached its permanent home orbiting the sun, about 1 million miles from Earth.
**Pillars of Creation:** Spanning 4 - 5 lightyears (≈ 25 trillion miles), these immense clouds of gas and dust are forming new stars.
**Uranus:** This image, released just a few weeks ago, shows 11 of the planet's 13 known rings.
**Cosmic Cliffs:** What looks like jagged mountains on a moonlit evening is actually the edge of a nearby, young, star-forming.
**Webb's First Deep Field:** Thousands of galaxies flood this image of galaxy cluster SMACS 0723.
**Southern Ring Nebula:** This scene was created by a white dwarf star – the remains of a star like our Sun after it stopped burning fuel through nuclear fusion.
