Let the vacation officially begin! 🎉
After Afghanistan, this is all I needed – a relaxed girls' trip. For the past week, I've been exploring Dalmatia with my friends. Everything about it is fantastic, except for the prices.
We drove to Split from Belgrade, making a stopover in Zagreb for the night. If we hadn't stayed the night, the drive would have been around 8 hours. The road is mostly a highway, and there were no major traffic jams or delays at the border.
In Split, we stayed at Apartments Matić, about a 10-15 minute walk from the Split promenade. We paid 150 euros per night for a triple room with a kitchen. I know you're curious about prices, so I'll do my best to share them with you.
Our first day was spent at Joe's Beach Lounge & Bar. Renting a sunbed costs 35 euros per person, and you don't get a towel. Meals are around 20-30 euros, cocktails about 15 euros. In my opinion, it was quite crowded until sunset, especially as there's a public beach nearby. However, around 5-6 pm, it started to clear out, and it became truly enjoyable. There's free public parking available nearby, but it gets really busy, and we barely found a spot.
In the evening, we took a stroll along the Split promenade, which would have been much more pleasant if not for the large number of drunk youngsters, mostly British tourists, who unfortunately paint a not-so-great picture of the city. There are warnings everywhere about fines for inappropriate behavior, but how well they are enforced in practice...
For those in the 30+ group, I recommend trying cocktails at the Olive Tree bar on the promenade, and then partying at Boiler Club (entry fee is 10 euros for Balkans, 20 euros for foreigners). Expect cocktail prices to be around 15+ euros.
Although we arrived by car, we also used Uber for getting around the city due to the lack of parking spaces or high parking fees (Uber prices are reasonable compared to other options, costing us 5-10 euros).
