- 3 months shy of 13 years on Instagram I surpass my follower count on @lens/lens after just 22 months of sharing who I am / what I do / what Iβm about. These are the first 10 images I ever posted to IG that had to be in-app photographs. The time was July 2011 as I worked on a summer-long snowboard film in Whistler, BC, Canada. I had moved out of my house in SLC to spend the summer on the glacier, which turned out to rain every day but 3, then make the trek back through Utah, grab my things, stop in the Chi & continue on to NYC where I blindly had a room waiting for me, knew few people, & had 10k saved with zero jobs lined up. Biggest leap I ever took, until now with Japan I guess (:

Hello, everyone, dear members of Lens Protocol. Today, I want to discuss a topic that concerns us all: the recent decline in activity on Lens.
π Observed Data π
Over the past few months, I've noticed some concerning trends:
π Posts have decreased by 21.65%
π Comments have dropped by 12.87%
π Mirrors have fallen by 28.71%
(Compared to the previous 30 days)
These numbers are alarming for the platform and all of us who contribute to its ecosystem.
β What's Happening? β
I don't have all the answers, but I would like to start a conversation about some of the possible reasons behind this decline:
- Has the quality of the content changed?
- Are new platforms capturing the users' attention?
- Is having a waiting list affecting the activity of the network?
I remember @stani mentioning that social networks are a party, and we need to take care of the participants at the party. Are we getting bored with this party?
