"In web3 social you’ll be able to have an ala carte experience. Choose your front end, moderation policy, and even the algorithm you prefer. You don’t need to build a front end, you can build premium features and users could attach to the front end that they prefer” - @christina.lens

- That's not entirely accurate. The user's connection to you might influence a low value. For instance, if you interact more with someone, they'll likely see you as a higher value profile than someone you've never crossed paths with. It is not a one fits all thing.
- Every algorithm can be enabled or disabled at the API level, allowing users to toggle them as needed. Our goal is to maintain openness and transparency, but as we've noticed, bot-generated noise can sometimes detract from the overall experience. Our priority is to enhance user experience first and foremost, while remaining strong supporters of open algorithms and continuing to adopt this approach as we go.
We've also provided an explanation of how high-value notifications function (admittedly, it's not very sophisticated at the moment) in our API documentation, which can be found here: https://docs.lens.xyz/docs/users-notifications
- I'm a little uneasy with the approach you're taking here of keeping the algorithm closed in the interest of preventing it from being gamed. I'm already seeing some comments hidden from accounts that I know are real people, so I worry that this will lead to more false positives.
I'd much rather just have a way to block fake accounts when I see them than have to rely on a centralized and closed algorithm. The "algorithm" is one of the reasons I dislike Twitter so much.
- I totally get the importance of open-source projects, and as a big fan and contributor, I'm all for it. But, you know, with ML algorithms there are some risks like folks gaming the system, which might do more harm than good. Right now, our main goal is to make sure we're providing a solid and effective ML experience for awesome users like you, so we can enhance the overall experience. We're definitely planning to open up parts of the system when it makes sense to do so. And, personally, I'm with you—open source is the future!

Hint: there’s web3 involved, it’s being built right now and @lensprotocol is already using it.
Our cofounders @polmaire.lens and @noemalzieu.lens will discuss this with the amazing @galligan.lens and @shanemac.lens from @xmtp_.lens in a Twitter Space hosted by @prashantbagga.lens

- Oh yeah for sure it’s very stupid and in theory not even using much ML right now (more just data), we be improving the notification stuff a lot more the idea first is to start somewhere and keep making stuff better. Of course you can turn it off with lenster if you do not see the value of it on the notifications, other apps should do the same so people can opt out and in.
