The real question is if apps will be able to keep a certain portion of Lens social graph gated only for their users, on protocol level. This is doable even today - you could just wrap all your users into a huge Orb style group. Allowing to fragment the graph is probably the best overall strategy for Lens. A universally shared graph is nice, but it's not optimal for attracting already established web2 apps and for integrating specialised content. The bet here is that overall, the shared part of social graph will still grow because of network effects. Can't wait to see how it all plays out.
Yes and no. It’s really the same as the blockchain. Everyone with data on Ethereum shares a certain amount of data. Ethereum itself has a user base with shared data. But within Ethereum there are many siloed networks and graphs.
