Post by @stani • Hey
Should Lens have more support for languages such as translations and content discovery based on local languages?
Comments
- Translations is a good idea but I'm not sure about the content discovery yet
- Yes! I’ve seen translations be present on Orb. Being patient on content discovery side as I speak a few
- I’d do translations, discovery is unnecessary imo. Have a language set and translator on front ends should do it tbh.
- Happy to help, actually opened a discussion today 👇

- I thought I saw a translation button recently but now I can't find it. Am I going crazy? haha
- I use the translator all the time when writing here... So I must sound really weird 😛
- one of @orbapp.lens best features
- Yessss super important actually
- yes!!
- Yes yes yes
- Of course!
- I approve this
- This would make Lens more accessible and useful for people all over the world regardless of their language or location.Having more languages supported would also make it easier for users to find the content they are looking for as the search results would be more relevant and accurate when matched to the users local language. In addition it would make the app more userfriendly for people who prefer using lens in their native language.
- Yes ser, we need this feature ❤🔥
- Absolutely yes
- i think the first half is necessary, the second is well, not top of the list
- Very necessary
- Yes Lens should support more languages
- Yeah, Lens should support more languages.
- Support for translations is definitely necessary as we need to understand what other users posted on lens. Also It is easier for the team to conduct the quality checks on the contents posted on lens to ensure posted contents do not breach lens policy. It is anticipated Lens will see explosive growth in it global active users after testing phrase, so it is advisable to exercise reasonable level of due diligence and precaution towards onchain activities.
- Yes I think so, support for languages translate to local languages
- Yep Lens should have more language settings, I could help with Chinese.
- Yes for content discovery since it will allow users to engage with content in their native language, which eventually leads to higher user satisfaction.
for example, there is a Youtube channel **Village Cooking Channel** in India with **20.6M** subscribers, and all the videos(approx 10M views per video) are in their native language. This truly shows the level of impact when the content is in the local language.
- Lens should have more language settings, I could help with Chinese.
- Absolutely, Lens will be the most popular web3, translator tool will help the Lensfrens from the world communicate without barriers
- if Lens can support more Languges, Lens is fking best
- I think as Lens getting bigger there will be non English user in it, so it is a good idea to be prepared for it!
- IMO that could be choosable, just a button to chose between local language content and ”global content”.
- I would see both as important. Translation in order for broader range of people to know what they're doing and content discovery to make them engaged to the platform. If translating to a language you would already assume the user isn't comfortable with English, so why would he want to stay on a platform that doesn't cater recommendation based on him the language.
Regarding content discovery though, it would be essential not to sacrifice content over language altogether. There must be a sufficient pool of content in the target language to not create small silos of people.
As to the timeline of things, first translation, and then language discovery. Not both at the same time. Site translation encourages people to use their native language which increases language specific content over time.
- local languages
- Yep It's should be support local languages
- Language-based content filtering is necessary
- Language-based content filtering is necessary.
- Yes, we should have this function! Only English contents can be found and discoveried right now, we need more high quality content created by other languages!
- Of course, localization is important
- I think it is very necessary, it can help more people who are not proficient in English to use the lens, it is very humane.
- 非常希望能自动翻译成中文,想readon那样
- I’d do translations, discovery is unnecessary imo. Have a language set and translator on front ends should do it tbh
- yes, more languages can help.
- Support for more languages will be great
- localization is important
- yes. Multi language is good.
- auto-translate is a super convenience feature that most social media platforms have already implemented
i think sooner or later Lens will to do the same, but no rush for now imo
- language support would be nice.
- Each country should be able to use it in its own local language. It can be like other Social media accounts.
- We need a set of aids, not only for translation, but also for more precise content filtering and rewarding
- I think translations is a good idea
- Translation for sure. Idk about specific content discovery though. What's the need for that if there is a translator yanno?
- Translations is a good idea
- Of course, translations is good.
