Honest takes, what do y'all think

- @lens/0xmoe and I had a related discussion lately :-)
If chosen wisely I think points can help to channel attention and “guide” users.
If there is 1 thing I’d 🤍 to see on lens (besides never seen before (web3) social apps ;-)) it’s a secondary market for collects. Not sure if points can kickstart demand for collects, but if points can’t, I guess i have to rethink (for myself) what collects might be.
tl;dr what @lens/watchereth wrote :-)
(+ it would be fun to have an (LLM powered) app that scores (-> points) the quality of lens posts :-).)
- It's a bad idea
- It does not matter whether we use points/badge/roles because they’re the same.
What matter is to build a sustainable model that people purely earn what they deserve
- First question is what role will "Points" play in the Lens ecosystem?
For me, Lens as the base protocol should have no
points and majorly stick to governance to direct the major focus of ecosystem.
I see Lens as "Ethereum" that allows you build your social apps and monetize it the way you and your community see it fit.
A good case is Phaver Points.
Other apps will also come up with the unique reward system for their communities and sub-communities.
Today, Ethereum = Eth and it plays the Big Boy role even for the ever increasing L2.
Lens should maintain that strong stand.
There could be more interesting governance Proposals on the next apps to fund, community built assessment via governance, gamefied.
- Unless it’s directly used to attract liquidity I don’t see how it could do more good than harm
- It's basically making users feel like they are working for whatever incentives they will be getting.
I will rather be surprised by an incentive than work for points. Besides I don't think the hype will sustain itself.
Badges, Poap, Points... They are all the same.
Don't farm users for marketing, we want to enjoy the experience of using @lens/lensprotocol.
- Probably not great, think it will reduce the quality of the content due to engagement farming
- I don't mind, it might help Lens to get more engagement
- i dont like this 😐 no point
- I would prefer a single token for the graph, no fancy things.
- It’s kind of like meh 🤷♂️ like they can be nice like how Warpcast basically rewards users of the social protocol by letting them pay gas for certain things, and lets users who don’t fuck with ETH to mint do things onchain in an abstracted way. But what everyone else is doing, especially Blur and FT, is super lame.
- Can I counter ask; why would you want to introduce points at all ? What should it be used for? I think gamification can go very bad. Zapper for me is a perfect example how it can go wrong. They had a nice NFT gamification for some time early on, which was farmed to death which also made me leave the project.
So again, why would you want this on this platform ?
- I like points cuz it confirms that there will be an airdrop LOL
- Points tend to be a precursor for an airdrop. Which means people might flood the ecosystem just for points.
I’d rather be completely surprised by an airdrop or shift to decentralization.
But I get it. It gives people clear targets for using the app and objectives.
It is what it is. I’ll earn the points either way. Cause I don’t see myself not using Lens.
- Noo
- I think ... **NO** is better.
- Absolutely no 👎👎👎
- A big NO!
- But @lens/stani wouldn’t you think this point stuff with definitely gonna bring a lot of fake user AKA farmers ? I think Team should bring point on the basis of :-
- Active Days/weeks/month
- Number of Post/comments/like
- Number Collects
- Onchain Eth/L2 Data
- Gitcoin Donor etc
Six relatable points, Which will definitely work to filter out and show Authentic users 💯
- I'm all points'd out, boss.
- Not worth it. I believe you should reward user in a unique approach like someone never did before. Not this points bullshit and all.
- No point
- no points ser’
- Well, actually I kind of like the old fashioned feeling it gives me of collecting coupons. The gamefication aspect is verry wel done in the Rainbow UI. That seems to be an important factor to me.
- no points ser’
- No points please, I hate it, lol
- No!
- we don’t want points
- Of course not
- Completely No 🫡
- No need for a point.
I come on Lens at intervals when i want to connect with the Lens community. I do it this days for fun and to also catch up with the awesome Phaver UI although i am not even currently farming the Phaver point system.
So my point is, no need for point for Lens, if you have plans to rewards Lens Active Users in the Future, just drop it anytime you feel it's time.
My own view.
- Not needed
