Is there any specific reason why you don't want to use metamask?
I feel u. I'm also a Ledger maximalist but created a separate Metamask hot wallet on mobile (with no funds) for DMs. No funds in there so no rekt :D and. The wallet can be changed anyway afterwards. But I guess this means previous DM chats would get lost.
