- I recall listening to a podcast episode of All In where they delved into the WeWork saga, providing insight into why VCs would support such a deal. The episode shed some light on the entire thought process and even discussed why same VC’s were backing a new venture by the same contrarian founder. I can’t recall the details though but it made sense at that time.
Regarding working from home, I heard a mid-sized tech company today claim that their productivity doubled during the pandemic while their employees worked from home. However, this trend also led to increased feelings of loneliness and depression to some individuals, hence why the increased productivity, some escape that loneliness through work
- The issues started with Adam Neuman, but I think the recent downfall symptom of the post-covid world, fewer people are going to the office, and a lot of start-ups are remote now (which was WeWork's biggest client segment) - many of the big office buildings in my city are now empty as well. Personally, I'm here for that change. I would never go back to working in an office again.
- It's sad. But honestly their business model is broken and too volatile. Would be interesting if they partners with brands to provide different food offerings or a network of people who can help each other with their businesses
- I guess the demand for office space is clearly in decline, but it is not zero. So they need simply regroup, cut costs and capture a bigger market share
