What's the most interesting use-cases you've seen with soul-bound tokens?
Comments
- In my alts life, we use soulbound tokens as a proof-of-contribution to the community. Whenever tokens are distributed as part of bounties, etc they are issued in 2-parts: the first is tradeable, the second soulbound. In this manner governance and social weight can be proven by holding both tokens simultaneously, calculated as `min(X-token, Y-token)` and at the same time there is some built-in sybil resistance since weight can’t be purely purchased.
- I think they’d be best used in a DAO with two separate houses - one by voter & one by token
- Identification of real users! Can be used as kyc for gated communities
- Mint Podcast’s Seasonal Pins.
- Verifiable credentials of achievement (academic), fungible ownership, etc
- ZK attestations e.g. @sismo.lens
- On-chain identification
- Ownership through taking part of building the platform and Lens
- Utility NFT tokens that were given away as a "gift" or similar. That way someone cant turn around and just sell them.
- for now, Binance SBT
- On-chain reputation, building your self-sovereig "LinkedIn".....
But should be developed right way. Because neither one specific address nor specific chain is your identity. And you should have control about which claims you publish on-chain, so it's visible.. I believe SSI stack and Verifiable Credentials should step in as part of solution. VC is off-chain, so you can use ZKP to publically manifest claims as SBT on several chains you transacting on. And burn this SBT whenever you want
- Token gated communities
- One cool way soul-bound tokens have been used is in elections. Binding a token to a specific voter makes it way harder for someone to cheat by voting multiple times or pretending to be someone else. It's a great way to prevent voter fraud!
- Most interesting use case for soul-bound token is fact checking in my opinion. Ultimate use case would be to validate any individual's claim by checking if their Digital identity can provide proof of what they are saying.
So far everyone is talking about using it for basic document validation, employment verification & event attendance verification. I personally feel issuing a soul bound token for credibility will enable better use cases.
Social media is full of opinions and sometimes it's hard to find which one is right or wrong. People can write false post without thinking about consequence. Issuing a soul bound token for every misleading info will help user. A content creator with 10 honest soul bound token is more credible than someone with 4 dishonest soul bound token.
- Using the blockchain, soulbound tokens can be issued to verify voter identities easily, without the potential for manipulation.
- Verification of Governance right and controls of bot manipulation
- Identify and anti bot
- Many of the the projects believe soul-bound tokens =kyc and I think it is a mistake.
- Soul bound
- wsoul-bound tokens?
- tokens
- Certificates might be a good idea as soul-bound tokens. They need to be tied to a specific entity.
- Identity tokens
- shit bound token?some projects make it tradable.so what is it bounded?
- Many things related to achievements. But at the moment I find it limiting that "soul" means address. It's pity that most (all?) implementations are "address" bound rather than "soul" bound.
- I think integrations around token gating are super powerful.
Community and token gating is a huge value prop of web3 and with soulbound tokens you can get that value without the associated floor price.
- tokentoken
- How to define the" soul"
- Token grants
- Ultra soul 🎶
- Benefit to holder
- actually i haven't see a perfect sour-bound example
- Achievements and Badges: In gaming or educational platforms, non-transferable tokens can be used to represent achievements, badges, or certifications earned by users. These tokens can serve as a permanent record of a user's accomplishments that cannot be traded or sold.
- Gating access to the communities is a great use-case, it feels like on-chain proof of your status and when it is soulbound - it feels really exclusive this way.
- Identity verification with the bonus of privacy. Could be used as a means of Anti hunter and Sybil attackers as well.
- One of the most interesting use cases for SBT (Soul Bound Token) is the SBT example in Screena's Watchparty. @screena.lens is a Web3 watch party platform where you can watch movies with friends or alone and earn SBT as a record of the movie you watched. The SBT you earn can be used to commemorate the event or in other use cases in the future. thats really good for Web3 contents lover !
- A "seed purse" that holds semi-fungible tokens or SEEDS that accumulate daily and can be exchanged for NFTs and various goods in the Flower Girls seed store 🌸
- Sybil detector, soul drop; got creditdao staked drop for binance babt and opportunity participate in some questn tasks tied to sbt
- Wen token
- oh man.sbt is useless.i think some projects misunderstand why sbt.some sbt is even tradable token.so weird
- would love to see a privacy preserving zk version of proof of humanity badge to prevent sybil attacks.
- It's like a proof of identity in a DAO or and project which indicates you're a valuable community member
- mint nft
- **Imagine if you could store your gho balance on this card**
- Immortality
- Zen academy uses them for student ids.
- Identity - it's for the identification of real users 😇
- NO USE
- proof of contribution, raffle tickets, lifetime club membership, web3 identity,...
- Digital identy of person. like phaver.
