Going to be thinking about this for awhile tbh. First thought is that if we are all consciously the “same” that invalidates the idea that consciousness is

- Let's go one step back.
We are made of atoms. At that level, we are all the same.
Our brain is a black box. We have our skulls, and we have sensors that feed information into our brains.
Thus, we experience the outside vía sensors that our brain interprets as best as it can.
While all the sensors are made by atoms, the next level is DNA. Eyes, skin, etc. In principle, share the same blueprints. And this is where it becomes interesting. The sensors are built almost exactly. That almost means the world. For example, your eyes and my eyes are probably not measuring the same wavelength of light of red, so we actually see red (because we agree at a language level) but our brains see two different reds. Pretty close reds, but not exactly the same.
This example can be applied to all our sensors. Thus, none of us experience the raw world in the same way.
Now add social behaviors. We as humans have different experiences for the same scenario. Let's say riding a bike. While some will have support, others will not. The experience adds weights to our sensors, so taking into account that none of the sensors are exactly the same, plus we don't have exactly the same experience we end up having different consciousness. Which makes things interesting, right?
- Hmmm interesting. I agree: how do we differentiate humans as individuals if we all have a collective conscious/source? Unique memories and experiences of reality doesn't seem to cut it.
Ironically, while reading your response I thought of the way that @lensprotocol is a graph that applications get built on top of: each application is unique and has a specific function but they all lean one way or another on 'the source' of the social graph. Our on-chain handles/identities also make appearances on these apps(call them planes of existence?) in a way that appears to be individual until you discover another app and see the history of your lens interaction displayed on the other app(i.e. seeing all my @buttrfly.lens posts on @lenster.lens and vice versa).
Carrying the illustration forward: imagine each lens app is semi aware of its own existence, while the handles on each app are aware of their own existence *but not the other apps or manifestations of themselves on the other apps*. In this example the memories are all the same but the awareness is not. Granted, the memories are actually managed at the graph(god/monad) level and so somehow they don't fully belong to the handles that are only aware of their existence within an individual app(yes, yes I know in web3 realm you do own your handles and all interactions but I'm trying to create separation for the sake of the illustration).
So when we create memories in one plane, are they being recorded to something beyond ourself and linked to our consciousness somewhere else? Are we only semi-aware to the extent that sometimes we just 'know' something instinctually?
Fascinating. Still begs the question of whether 'God/Monad' is the source or the 'database' of consciousness, I think. Not sure how I'm answering your logic tbh. Just sent me off on this train of thought, haha.
- wow
this is so long
