But why have all discussions on the forum regarding the frontend resulted in contacting the Aave companies then? I already saw a few proposals with front end changes and then they have been directed to the companies.
Nope, flashstake or the community need to make a governance proposal, Then it can be discussed and possibly a snapshot/voting later. Or flashstake can contact for example to Aave protocol contributors as Aave Chan Initiative, Llama, Aave Grants DAO. Directly connecting with them via twitter or governance forum or their available site if they have one.
