If I don't look at the "classic" web3 reason (decentralization, full control of your data and identity, transparency of the interactions...), I would say that the first reason might be that his usual apps are becoming worst to use (bad content, too many ads, 👋 Twitter !) and that he doesn't know what is done with his data.
