I agree, that's how I use this app mostly - I think doing a mix of content from the explore tab might be a good default settings for newcomers.
Here’s an alternate flow I can’t stop thinking about: It’s all about the network. Facebook beat MySpace because FB created many small networks— it was only open to schools, and essentially everyone who joined felt like their entire school was already on there or in the process of getting on there. If you wanted to contact a classmate there was a good chance they were on FB. When you browsed the site (pre-newsfeed) you saw all your classmates there and the photos they posted. It felt like “everyone” was there. Tinder jumpstarted its network by throwing a party of gorgeous people with the requirement that everyone must download and join Tinder. So when people wanted to hook up with others at the party, the entire party was already on the app. “Everyone” was there. So applying these lessons to Lens: 1) Every app needs the ability to mint a Lens profile 2) Let the apps create communities 3) Feed apps become the discovery engines Nike should be able to create an app for Dot Swoosh and integrate Lens. Tasty Toastys and Hunnys and Bored Apes should be able to create an app for their established communities on Lens. Tinder/Letterboxd/Untappd/Peloton should be able to integrate Lens. Let the targeted, niche-specific apps manage the communities. Let the feed apps manage the discovery.
Amazing ideas and totally agree! We all def have to be 100x for onboarding experience before open season but also get much better on content/feed. I think once there’s a way to do custom queries on lens api then content will be much better and diverse across the apps
