Question for artists: how do you choose between minting a limited edition, unlimited edition, and a 1/1?
Comments
- My take with music is that there should be no limitations on how many pieces can be collected, so I often post unlimited editions. It’s funny you posted this tho, because I was just thinking that my next piece will be limited, because it’s a really special piece to me, composed in a totally novel way. So I’m leaning towards making this a limited collection for a little higher cost. We’ll see how it goes!
Often I will drop some AI generated images as limited collects; usually these are attached to special posts, as a way to commemorate or mark certain occasions. My series of robot PFPs (which I actually still have a bunch to release) were all 1/1s because I wanted the collector to feel they owned a unique version of myself on Lens.
- All of my 1/1s exist on mainnet, my multiple editions are for Lens/Base. In the past it was usually how much effort or how much I like the image that determines whether it's 1/1. Now I mainly mint on Lens because there's no minting fee. Majority of my work on Lens, and in general, hasn't been collected so it's nice to not have that upfront gas cost when earning revenue can be challenging. For unlimited editions it's usually a pic of my dog or something goofy and fun 🤪
