Very interesting, what kind of use-cases you see for crypto/blockchain in Guatemala that could have some potential use-cases? I remember back in ETHMexico

I generally believe having a credibly-neutral capture-resistant coordination protocol upon which we can build the substrate for society is the future I’d like to live in. To get there, here’s a couple immediately useful and practical use-cases that we can deploy today: 1. Payments - Latam is a very cash heavy society. Much of the transactions that occur are in the informal economy. Providing a privacy-preserving payments platform would be key. 2. Lending - this is one I’m personally particularly excited by. As you know, interest rates for borrowers in the global south are through the roof. On the other side, lenders in crypto are seeing incredibly low rates, there is an arbitrage opportunity here to bring both more equitable financing and better rates for lenders. Lots of unlocks/opps here. This is largely the use-case my research is focused on. These two are the most prescient solutions that require minimal lifts from where we stand today as an industry. By that said, there’s also the opportunity to do more work at the intersection of identity, public accountability/transparency (I always say I won’t stop until we see Guatemala’s national budget on-chain), decentralized science/conservation, and a ton of other use-cases. I think gaming and social are the biggest onboarding tools we have at our disposal, yet we must be intentional about how we deploy these solutions. Look forward to learning more about Aave/Lens' moves towards these regions (great to see Lemon integration btw)! You'll have to wait for the full report (launching at ETHDenver) for the full insights 🙂
yes you are right
