I think once Web3 leaves the early adopter part of the curve they simply can't stand that position anymore. If users have to pay 30% extra, they will use either a desktop app, their phone's browser or even worse, Android.

ethOS is one attempt, but independent hardware is incredibly resource-intensive to get around the Duopoly. I've heard that phone manufacturers have exclusivity agreements, maybe the best way around this is to standardize the inner specs of one memetic device and decentralize the assembly to phone repair techs (wonder how this could be secure).
100% agree on this. Say what you will about Solana, but i think the move to a phone was a smart one. I imagine we’ll see an EVM-native project coming soon 👀
