Also wtf is even a doctors certificate you pay to have them justify why you’re unwell

I remember one monday were I had a terrible hangover and felt sick. Early 2021 were COVID was mutating like a xmen. My manager ordered me to call the doctor to prevent, doctor made a in-call check and gave me a whole week of rest. I was like new the day after 😂
at my job it's three days without a certificate. however, if they suspect you cheating, they can demand a certificate from day one. the three days can be tricky, though. if you call in sick on a Friday and don't show up on Monday, you're sick for four days already. so you better make the right decision on Friday already.
In Europe it's sort of normal, as for the state to pay for your sick leave of more than 2 days there must be doctor's note. Still a hastle of course.
