What would you **not** want to see Lens becoming?
Comments
- I guess the main goal of a protocol like lens is to attract and enable devs to build exciting apps on top. easy ;-).
- full of scammers
- I just want to preamble this by saying I'm a staunch lens supporter, you can call me lens's 'biggest fan', I research it and implement software for it, it runs our community homepage, https://247420.xyz and it's our entire community's primary social media now.
Realistically, some of the mentions in the chat would be things I'd personally love to see lens becoming, e.g. if it becomes facebook, well I wouldn't be against that, facebook has a great marketplace and games... if it becomes x, well x has the largest and most reputable posters in the world
Here's what I don't want to see it become:
A permissioned network of busybodies where you get attacked for not being an NPC (for example earlier blockchain based social networks (look at graphene/steem) people who don't like you could use their stake to make you invisible to the public)
A network that's preventing automation (e.g. x and meta api restrictions), or delisting cross posting or even bot posting, users should be free to watch the content they want to watch, it's very important because eventually these kinds of networks are used for high-stakes chess games etc, and it's important that all content has the ability to propagate appropriately.
Too DIY project oriented: the main mechanisms for every media should have an official or officially endorsed app, I would say that should cover images, videos and audio, it would be ideal for hey to corner these three in a way that you don't get a huge advantage by using an alternative app, since those are the bread-and-butter of social media.
Too token oriented: token adoption and use should be seamless and should never complicate posting.
A network where people get attacked for liking, collecting, or doing anything their wallet actually allows them to do.
Too rigid: lens will have to be able to support other graphs, polls, games, events, incentivized social activities, so adaptability to non-post-and-comment graphs will determine its longevity in a big way
The answer is to use soft mechanisms to control the users experience instead of hard mechanisms, use as much convention and jerry rigging as possible so that things are very hard to break, auto-hiding comments has been an interesting step, maybe just displaying them in grey instead of hiding them is more appropriate default behavior for instance, and giving the user to always show them with a single click.
The thought being maximizing the users control over their experience, and making that easy to use.
The basic premise of a good social network is that users should be encouraged to produce excitement and hype without incentivizing negativity, prevention is not better than cure when it comes to speech.
- Private sandbox of Tony Stark-like billionaire.
- What I would hate to see lens become: The same toxic cesspool as Crypto Twitter.
What I would <3 to see lens beocme: Fresh ideas, open chats, easy banter and people being able to speak their mind.
- My dream is for the feed to resemble a labyrinth where one searches for interesting content, where the experience of "watching" is transformed into "playing" "participating". You have to edit what you're doing, whether you're reading, collecting or moving on, because you might not end up here anymore (post creators determine how many times you can hit their post in the maze). Of course there are rewards from the creators but also from the app and from Lens for persistent searching. There are games and puzzles in the maze, created from the creators' content.... but it would be fun :D I'm dreaming 😄
- Scam links like on X
- jungle of apps with fake accounts
- Twitter
- I love algorithms and I recognize that app builders need to monetize at some point.
But what I wouldn’t want to see are similar algorithms like in traditional social media that aim to keep the user hooked on the screen as long as possible in order to show them more ads.
- Rage factory. I have no idea how to prevent it, but pretty much every big social network has become a place that makes people more angry and opinionated.
- Gotcha algos
- Too similar to Web2 social networks
- As long as we don’t JUST optimize for ads revenue. We are good :)
- Source of misinformation
- Facebook.
- Crypto spam, quests with reposts/likes, etc. Would be fantastic to slash organizers of incentivized activity.
- Anything resembling X/Twitter 😆
- Another Influencers' playground like in Web2 socials. Let the little ppl get some engagement, encourage more and more noob creators to post. Keep the good vibe going ..
- Shitty coins/tokens 😂
- AI-generated feed that tries to increase user time in the app
- I don't want Lens to be sidelined by mainstream
- be the current lens
- to become present Lens
- I would like it to be a place where the rights of creators are respected and protected. I would like a real look at the issues of piracy and copyright protection. <3
- Inactive?
- X
- No tge
- Scams, haters, « freefom of speech » 😥
- don’t become a place where people’s accounts can get suspended for no reason
- I don't like 404
- Twitter
- breeding ground for phishers
- Scam or any Rug
- 312431
- A siloed network with high switching costs. Even though that is exactly the point but switching cost can still occur on the protocol level. So cross chain interoperability is essential!
- Dont be come scam and spam platform like X 😂
- a platform prays on my data
- 5235
- An place to easily scam people
- Tiktok
- OF on the blockchain
- Spam of the form "like, comment, share this content to enter some competition".
- Phishing links 😂
- official app for phone
- Another botted platform like X.
- decentralized on the front-end but centralized on the back-end.
- A platform which is now being used to manipulate crypto 🌚
- A platform just for shilling coins.
