Pakistanโs strikingly varied and beautiful landscape has charmed adventurers, writers, poets and artists. But an apt and detailed depiction of a beautiful mountain, desolated desert, rocky terrain, village life, cityscape or a mundane way side puddle โ whether through writing or painting - is quite a challenging task. Interestingly, landscape painting was considered to be at the lower ranks of art genres by the 17th-century French academy. It was only in due course, therefore, that landscape painting became popular. The factors that allowed this to happen include a conscious effort by artists to move away from religious and historical symbolism that was pervasive in Western painting. Moreover, there was a response to the industrialization and resultant urbanization, which inspired artists to paint land- and cityscapes. Greater availability of transportation also allowed painters to go out of cities over weekends and paint quietly. There was also the motiviation to paint for the glory of the country through landscape, particularly the United States which as a new country lacked historical events to be painted - as opposed to the Europeans. The age of colonialism used landscape painting to document new lands, remind the colonists of their home countries and cast the colonists in a glamorous light. New inventions like portable paint tubes and field easels also allowed artists to paint en plein air. @lens/kaira4pakistan @lens/bonsai

Bahawalpur is a city in Pakistan known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance. It's home to stunning palaces, mosques, and forts that reflect the grandeur of its past.
In terms of art history, Bahawalpur has a unique artistic tradition that combines elements of Islamic and local influences. The art of Bahawalpur often features intricate geometric patterns, floral motifs, and calligraphy, which are prominent in Islamic art.
The picture i shared might depict a scene or a person that is significant to Bahawalpur's history. It could be a representation of a historical figure, an event, or a cultural practice. The hat that the person is wearing might be a traditional headgear associated with the region.
To truly understand the history behind this specific art picture, it would be helpful to learn more about the context and background of Bahawalpur's art and culture. Exploring local museums, historical sites, or speaking with experts in the field can provide deeper insights into the meaning and significance of this artwork.
Art has a way of capturing the essence of a place and its history, and this picture from Bahawalpur is a wonderful example of that. It's always fascinating to delve into the stories and symbolism behind artworks and discover the rich cultural heritage they represent. @lens/kaira @lens/bonsai

*Zulfiqar Zulfi* is a Design graduate from National College of Arts, Lahore in 1989. He is a realistic painter of landscapes and is known for his use of light in Punjab countryside scenery paintings. He was born in 1963 and had his early education at Dera Ghazi Khan and then left the town at a very early age. Zulfi paints scenes from the Punjab, especially Dera Ghazi Khan which is still alive in the deep down recesses of his unconscious.
About his Paintings:
In his landscapes one actually fees the breeze and smells the grass- The foggy winter morning scenes are truly cold and the sunny landscapes warm and brilliant.
Zulfi experimented with mist three years ago and was fascinated by its romance.Zulfi, a keen observer of nature, noticed romance in mist and then he found soft light when the mist was washed away by winter rain. He felt the beauty of it and started painting the light. These were progressions on his canvas not by design but by a natural process. Journey of my painting; I do not know which turn it will take in future. But I am ready to take challenges in painting - Zulfiqar said
Marjorie Husain said, โZulfiqar Ali Zulfi is a painter of the landscape genre with two decades of painting to his credit. In Zulfiโs paintings it appears we are all observers. Often standing on the threshold of light. Almost grisaille in his approach to the media, he is a master of chiaroscuro, mornings are cloaked with mist, the tall trees dramatic, leafless silhouettes.โ
I love this painting of his because it is an unrealized feeling where the greenery gives a cool evening breeze and the old people of the village who live in a different way.๐ผ๏ธโค๏ธโจ

...PAKISTANI ARTIST FATIMA ZAHRA HASSAN ....
My painting shows a peacock and woman sitting against a pale sea-green background painted as a carpet, a crescent moon in the night-sky behind with stars like a jali screen with lotus flowers and leaves in between. The overall hues are different shades of blue and green. Green, as your readers know, is considered a mystical color in Islam associated with Paradise and the Prophet and blue is the color of the Heavens. I use these two colors most as they seem more than the others to indicate the infinite mystery of the Divine. The female figure is wearing yellow, which represents spring, new life and joy but it is also the color of longing and waiting for the Beloved. And while the peacock represents many different ideas in different traditions, one of its meanings in the Indo-Pakistani tradition, is that it stands for the male Beloved.

Heer Ranjha! This painting truly captures the essence of their legendary love story. Heer and Ranjha are iconic characters from Punjabi folklore, and their tale of forbidden love has been passed down through generations.
In this beautiful art piece, we see Heer and Ranjha sitting beside each other, their eyes filled with love and longing. The artist has skillfully portrayed their emotions, allowing us to feel the intensity of their connection.
The vibrant colors and intricate details in the painting bring the story to life. The lush green surroundings and the traditional attire of Heer and Ranjha reflect the cultural backdrop of Punjab, where their story is set.
Heer and Ranjha's love story is a symbol of eternal love and sacrifice. It transcends societal boundaries and speaks to the power of true love. This painting serves as a reminder of the enduring nature of their love and the timeless appeal of their story.
