I think there was real hope there. Zeus is strict but fair. The gods do not close all doors at once, they leave one for exit and hope.
I believe there are higher powers. I don't know who they are, who created us or who created those who created us. But the whole world is clearly someone who created. I don't believe it came about on its own.
