Post by @stani • Hey
I think users should use more pay to follow, even with a smol fee. Also any ideas to improve the feature would be cool to hear you all out. Maybe associati

- SOOO STani....a bird told me you are UP for a Karaoke right?😎🎤
- Could perhaps have follow revenue split among specified addresses, EG I could choose to have my follow revenue split 50/50 with the Gitcoin climate round, or an organization can have their follow revenue split amongst their team. Maybe this is already possible with @0xsplits.lens , but I'm not sure.
- yeah! I agree
- good idea
- The cost is up to the user, who can pay for it if he wishes.
- This is very interesting! Is like a real version of “friend tech” an actual token in your lens profile that gives you access to something extra and in the lens ecosistem we can use the different apps to deliver this, maybe a lenstube video that only certain people who holds your token can access 👀
- I would separate following and subscribing for an extra content. Following should stay free, and then the person that is being followed should determine which actions should be for all followers and which ones are for subscribers.
Also I wouldn’t make it just a subscription, but a subscription tiers. Take a look at the @superfluid.lens. They make a perfect sense for a subscription service. You can subscribe to any tier on my profile for however long you’d like. Sounds perfect to me 🙌🏻
- just made it 0.01 WMatic to follow me bc I think I'm mostly followed by bots / farmers (ain't no way 3k people are really following me here 😅 . That never happened anywhere).
biggest issue I see is @orbapp.lens doesnt support paid follows and collects (bc of app stores, i gather) so ot really gets in the way if u use mostly mobile.
- biggest issue now is that i can not see the difrence between paid and free follow followers should have some metadata that i could see that somone followed me for X $ for example purple bg follow nft
- Paying a one-time fee to follow someone doesn't make sense, both for followers and creators. If the fee is small, the entry barrier remains, albeit low, and the revenue for the creator is insignificant. This is particularly problematic for creators who rely on visibility for their call-to-actions, whether they run a monthly newsletter or are NFT artists. Even a small fee can deter potential followers, simply due to the hassle of the payment process.
On the other hand, if the fee is high, it may be financially rewarding in the short term for already popular creators, but it's not a sustainable model. Social media essentially serves as the top of the marketing funnel.
What's missing in the crypto space is a steady revenue stream.
Platforms like YouTube and Discord allow creators to charge people on a monthly basis for extra content. Eric Wall's implementation of a Harberger tax system in Orb Land comes closest to what I see as a sustainable model for this type of interaction.

- Binding all into money not a good idea.
- That will be super amazing feature.....
I think the ability on the side of the person been followed to accept the request and also chose to forfeit the fee or accept it as well will be very flexible... @stani.lens
I think myself and my super amazing dev friends were talking about this few weeks back @kelvinazino @sidneyakpaso
- Struggling to get people to follow for free tbh 😅 😂
- I think the feature is good enough, it’s up to the creators to offer value that convinces users to pay ( similar to how lot of YouTubers do it with Patreon subscription)
- Pay to follow even with small fee is amazing, but every time popping the transaction to sign and approve can be a horrible UX,
Insted ,One can build a proxy contract where one profile can initially deposit some tokens and later when they want to spend on follow or paid collects, the amount can be directly deducted from the address's deposit , taking just a confirmation from user.
Just a thought, can be discussed in deep
- Definitely gave me some ideas for @openlens.lens pay to follow tho
- @jessyfries.lens is the only one I know doing it really well on Lens
