Post by @ryanfox • Hey
Why do we collect social media posts here?
What good does having photos from @chaoticmonk.lens and @grams.lens in my wallet do me? Why on Earth would you
Comments
- @ryanfox.lens always with the most thoughtful takes and suggestions
*"I collect social media posts because at some point I’m going to be writing a post or making a video and AI will be able to show what my influences were and how those ideas were probably introduced to me. I’ll be able to list my influences and cite my sources."*
- instant collect, imagine having an AI trained on @ryanfox.lens ‘s wisdom. 😀

- I don't know if you are aware of Folklore, a project started by Rafa (https://twitter.com/rafathebuilder), see: https://folklore.institute and https://folklore.mirror.xyz
tl;dr: paid members, two Telegram channels, and (mostly) Rafa dropped some interesting articles from the likes of Toby Shorin, Kei Kreutler, Venkatesh Rao,... on community (building), (internet) culture, how web3 plays a role,... usually longer articles. there's even a spreadsheet with all (?) articles (currently about 300) somewhere but my bookmark service of choice is down.
recently, Folklore launched a chat bot, trained with all those articles (https://folklore.mirror.xyz/OiCZVCw4LcIDck_2KLufkFtaWDL_zP3plpTNXaD3Saw). I think the concept is rather similar to yours.
Rafa published a video of a recent talk of him in Berlin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GE8_BAWfiUI
check it out.
- very interesting Ryan 👏 - Perhaps its the terminology, but I must admit I still need some time wrapping my head around notion of - Users "using" me.
- Interesting take as always Ryan 💪
- It’s our onchain identify.
- genius
- thanks @gotenks.lens
super cool ryan
wanna nerd out sometime? send me caoendar if so. here’s my views https://smartprofiles.notion.site
- You don't need to collect anything onchain in order to take someone's data and train AI on it. In fact I could already take all your posts and make train AI on it without interacting with you once.
Also I don't really understand the concept of becoming a "user" of someone. It sounds like an euphemism for stealing someones data and replicating it. Where is the benefit for the creator?

- always thought of collecting similar to bookmarking!
- Yes why is that
- Thanks, makes sense
