3/ Profiles are a core part of the social experience, but they don't get you to the "aha moment". Determine what’s a necessity and what is optional or can have default options in a profile. Strip out as much as you can to get users to the "aha moment" ASAP.
2/ Consumers don't care about being a node on the graph. They care about the value they get by being a node on the graph. That means the most effective onboarding is not protocol focused, but product focused. Users need to experience value.
1/ Social graphs need to onboard two very different types of target users: consumers and developers. But each target user has different needs in the product and onboarding experience. To successfully attract and retain both, you need to meet both needs.
