Post by @stani • Hey
If I would create an WorldCoin style orb, would you trust to scan your retina?
Comments
- I'd be more inclined to try your iteration than Sam's, but the idea of scanning my eyes and the data leaving my device concerns me.
- I don't think I'm ready to scan my retina😂
- I guess in the end it’s a question of utility/comfort/necessity. 🤷♀️
If irisscan is the future of IDs “everyone” will do it, if it’s required for ubi everyone and every pet will do it.
If there is no benefit besides some funny internet money with “interesting” tokenomics im not sure if that sounds very promising ….
- Only if the mechanism is completely transparent and public for multiple auditing.
WorldCoin uses Zk tech.
- If the stack was fully decentralized.
- Depends what will be your goal and how you will use that
- no but this one i could think about 🤣

- Definitely not. Doesn't matter who makes it.
- I tend to agree with @punkess.lens on this. It would be interesting to see a poll asking people if they would scan their retina if Apple requested it to use the iPhone.
- I wouldn't do that. I'm also against KYC which I have to scan my face.
- Are you implying that your trust factor is higher than that of the Worldcoin team?
- No, I would invest but won't scan :)
- Its scary to get your retina scanned.
- Nah, basically scanning retina can have bad future implications. I will prefer to stay away
- Its easy to induce poor people with a token to give up their personal information. As evidenced by the crowds outside Worldcoin scanning centres
- The ideal identity protocol to solve the “Decentralized Identity Trilemma” :
1. Sybil resistance.
2. Maintaining self-sovereignty (creating and controlling an identity without the involvement of a centralized third party such as Exchanger)
3. Privacy preservation (acquiring and utilizing an identifier without revealing personal information in the process such as KYC, Retina Scan).
WorldCoin has solved No.1 but also violating No. 2 and No. 3 @stani.lens @lensprotocol
- No, I don’t trust this thing
- WorldCoin
- Facial verification is one-time, and will be taken away for money, power, and centralization.......
But social identity does not, we can easily find, rebuild, maintain our own social network, and verify our social identity
For example: your face information may be illegally occupied, and then it is difficult for you to prove that you are you.
But if your lens account is occupied, you can use a new account to prove yourself through friends, post style and content......
- No
- it depends on how the data will be stored and, above all, for what future use ?
- Do you allow someone to get your fingerprint ? They can put it in any crime scene :)
- It doen't make any differences between decentralized and centralized anymore.
- Prove yourself with your social identity, not your face
- Not at all
- nope, sir
- my data is already leaked so i'm down haha
- never!
- Never in a million years 😂
- No I'm out 😅
