- 🤔 I guess there are some scientific studies on effects of language, would be interested as well if someone can share sth.
(I was wondering in school how were people able to speak(!) Latin 🤷♀️)
- This is actually a quite interesting topic, I myself speak 3 different languages, English and Norwegian tends to be the main ones. I find myself being able to think much more objectively (and productively) in English than Norwegian.
I have assumed that this is because I have formed much of my early adult life in the UK, going to university and conducting research and work in the English Language. I have thought about it in the same way you would choose your programming language, some of them are just better at certian things than others.
You can read more about it by reading the Sapir-Whorf Hypothesis: which highlights linguistic determinism and relativity. Language impacts thought by shaping categorization, conceptualization, framing, and metaphor usage. Furthermore, it affects cognitive development in children and serves as a medium for cultural transmission, ultimately molding the way people perceive and interact with the world.
- Don't think it will be any different. Language is just a means of expression and not the generator of same. It helps us better articulate and express our thoughts. So in a way it makes the output (words, expression, presentation) more efficient.
