One of the friction points I run into with a Sign-In with Ethereum product (like lens/lenster) is that my superphiz.eth ENS name is too valuable to operate
Comments
- 1. Set the ETH address of YOURNAME.eth to a hot wallet address (MM, Rainbow, Argent, etc)
2. Connect that hot wallet to ENS website and set it as the primary resolver of YOURNAME.eth
3. Now YOURNAME.eth shows up as the hot wallet, but the name still securely lives in the hardware wallet.
- I'm continually having to press buttons on an external device to access it
- I think this is something that will just be solved with time. The big thing that will improve user experiences drastically in Lens is Account Abstraction. Unfortunately, Argent is only on L1 & zkSync for now, but once it's on Polygon, it will be a safe option to use on mobile with your ENS name if you assign guardians. God knows how long that will take though! 😩
- @superphiz.lens I'm in the same process. Going to try out @lloyd.lens' suggestion for now
- I've seen somebody within the NFT ecosystem, some of the big projects, maybe apes, working on a proxy contract where you can delegate your NFT to another wallet which you can sign in with. Definitely something which we need to implement and adopt.
- The Lens Dev Community is working on a contract update to allow for you to delegate access control to other wallets. In absence of protocol-level account abstraction, we can do offer methods of abstraction in the contracts themselves.
- How does it feel to be owner of your social ?
