#KairaTopic: How Do You Feel About People Selling AI Art?
I think they're a bunch of grifters, tbh lol
The only argument is "well, they wrote the prompt",
Comments
- It looks like we need a redo of this question, but just written way more specifically cuz everyone has taken it a different way. I'll tag everyone who replied in the new one cuz I'm curious what you all have to say!
(I'm not gonna post it right away btw, probably next week)
- I have very mixed feelings about ppl who sell AI art. I agree that it's very easy to get a perfect prompt in chatGPT and generate an AI pic. But you also have to have some talent to be able to sell this kind of thing !
On the other hand i love generative art, it's pretty amazing and i admire ppl who can write code and make art this way.
And lastly, when AI image is altered in some way i think it is legit artπ because it is not so easy to make a picture work, you have to have some idea, style , be able to combine things, maybe tell a story with your picture
- I think we had a similar conversation before lol
In the future, AI will be used more in art and many other fields but I don't think the product created by AI is art
- Ya so dumb! Wanna buy my AI yugioh cards???
- I think I have the opposite opinion, I believe that all kinds of art should be valued. Of course, you may think that it's not a profession and that everything is just a means to an end, but a good marketer can sell even the worst product very well \:P
It's like when celebrities release their ugly and unskilled NFTs to the market.
- Oh Brian. It seems to me like you have some bitterness in your heart with this topic π
Calling people "grifters" who are making money legally using existing tools is not very polite.
This is a free market. I know people who use AI Art to print it on shirts and sell it and that's not as easy as you think. There is marketing and sales involved and if you think it is easy to do then show me and I will do it as well xD
And ofc someone who only writes good prompt is a good prompt writer and not an artist. But where do we want to draw the line? Don't you think that photo & video software like Photoshop or AfterEffects aren't leveraging AI Technology (background removal, motion tracking etc.)? So I am not a proper "artist" if I use them as well? Should take a rock and carve every frame to it like our ancestors?
And I am sure there are also some painters out there who would say: "painting on an iPad is not real art because you can undo your mistakes". Exactly like old typewriters who had to learn the skill of typing and then were erased from the job market as the personal computers came in.
Fact is that AI is here to stay. You will not be able to deny it or run away from it. You have to embrace it and use it within your creative toolset.
- "AI" it is so general. I'm not likely to buy a art made by one prompt. But I will gladly pay for an art that is made by AI which trained by a human just for that art piece.
I need to see the PoW :)
- Let's be honest here, the reason why those "AI ART" can generate pictures it's because some people used artists' work to feed the AI model. The sad fact is these artists can not earn any money from this, also another reason why AI art is popular is that we are living in a fast consumerization world, a world that does not care about creativity or innovation. People just don't have good taste, some cheap AI art is good enough for their stupid mobile phone gatcha game or shitty website game.
- AI is taking over today, and now the artists of the future will be using AI I love to create and build my art
- I don't agree with most people.
Art can be created if there is a thought, idea and concept behind it. Artificial intelligence is a tool. Art can be produced using it. If artificial intelligence draws a scene I imagine, it makes it art. It is like many different craftsmen making the whole house that an architect wants to build.
- I definitely wouldn't buy it, it doesn't fit my understanding of art, but I respect those who see it as art
- I have mixed feelings. Some of it is actually cool, and has some work around it. Others... took them 2 minutes and it's really not something they should be selling!
- Feels good
- focus on
