Yes I also think it depends on the model. But I am also struggling with this concept. Sometimes I think it could be helpful if a creator is in need of funds , but then again probably just reaching out to investors or starting an on-chain crowdfunding event would be more efficient. My biggest problem with this concept is the idea of „owning your favorite creators“. it’s probably not necessary at and a good content creator would not be in need of such deal, if they have a large enough audience, they will monetize their content and their reach. As sites like Patreon show us, audiences are willing to support and pay for your content if it’s good enough. So I don’t like the idea of creators selling their „shares“ and having to give a cut. This might also incentivize creators to focus more on selling shares rather than focusing on creating better content. And I’m afraid social capital is becoming the new buzzword that a lot of half-baked projects will use to gain traction.
