Possession is the dictionary definition of "own", not mine.
*"If you have a car that belongs to you on paper, but everyone can drive it and use it without your consent and you can’t do anything about it, then you don’t own the car."*
Respectfully, this doesn't make any sense. If you own the car, you have the ability to have the law enforced on your behalf, so you absolutely *can* do something about it. Your ownership entitles you to lawful protection. You don't have to physically control access to your car to have control over who drives it.
*"However if the few popular Frontend clients decide to hide your content, it results in a form of soft censorship."*
This is not censorship. There's no such thing as "soft censorship". You're either censored, or you're not.
*"Simple delete? We both know that the average user is neither capable nor interested in setting up a private server, just so they can delete their content."*
We're not discussing how savvy Lens users are, we're talking about whats possible on the protocol. Phaver uses a private server for their content, so to delete your content published from there it's literally the same as Web2.
*"And on Lens, even if you block someone, they can still see everything you post."*
This is the same for public social networks, like Twitter. On Lens, at least you have the option to encrypt your posts for specific audiences.
*"The main issue I have with Lens' marketing about "owning your data" is that it's misleading."*
Just because users don't yet understand what "owning your data" means, and that they might mistake it for meaning "power to delete", doesn't mean it's misleading. It's a simple fact. Businesses using Lens data still have to abide by laws, like RTBF, which give users more control.
