What brought you to Lens in the first place? What did you liked about it?
Comments
- First and foremost, the opportunity to be part of creating a new social network, one that feels like my own, where innovation is not just possible but encouraged, really drew me in. I appreciate the ability to curate content in my own unique way. The potential to reach a point where I can customize what kind of content it is presented to me. Additionally, the prospect of being rewarded for my content contributions is very appealing. I value the ability to avoid spam and the assurance that I'm interacting with real people. Lastly, the chance to build an audience and a community that truly belongs to me is something I find very compelling about Lens.
- as a builder: the composability. Being able to create social apps/integrations with such ease using Lens components has never been possible before with Web2 and it immediately drew me in.
- The fact that I get to own everything I do, everything I say, and everything I get during my time on Lens. There could be some kind of censorship in the future, but that’s not always the bad thing to have. But even if I get censored, I can always get access to my data. Not only that, but I could also make a Lens client that would work just like the others plus, I could bring back my profile from the censored ones. That’s power to the users, creators, and supporters.
- I think @lens/paris said you want to ship something new ...
- I came for curiosity. I always try things. Literally Everything. I stayed because of the people and the vibe. I like owning content and supporting other people.
I also hate intermediaries in general and the prospect of my data being in the hands of governments.
- Coming from the web2 creator world ownership over my content, the ability to try new apps with new features and themes without having to ‘start over’. But this is small niche of people who come for this. More people come because they want what’s already on the app vs seeing the potential in what the app can be + being willing to stick around while that gets figured out.
I also love that it’s multimedia. From a brand perspective it’s nice to have spots for written (long and short form), photos, videos, podcasts etc - makes it easier to dive into people’s/projects work.
Now with open actions I also think it could be a really cool network community/DAO tool. With snapshot, communities/channels of focus, multimedia options (not just written) and other intergrations we have a chance at making governance fun vs just a long forum then vote thing.
Tracking onchain impact for off chain tasks is also a big focus right now in the regen space. Integrations with hypercerts etc would also be a cool way for people to use their social media as a way to also prove impact for regen focused communities.
There’s so much potential with lens and I see it as something new vs recreating an onchain version of something that already exists.
- The potential to create new online experiences drew me in, and I liked how open/easy it was to build things (with documentation, code examples, technical support on Discord...)
- Hackathon! Ngl but started hacking mainly because of the ease of use. Great developer docs from day 1. The protocol felt and still feels like something fresh and able to be disruptive to the prevailing system.
- I think the idea of bringing your identity from one app to another was fascinating to me. Like beeing able to check out many parties while always bringing your friends and identity along.
Interoperability and composable social infrastructure have the potential to change how we interact, connect and share information
- This post got me on the allowlist. As you can see, I’ve been anticipating open actions from the get go!
When I joined I really liked the unfiltered community vibe (even the bots at times). And of course, how receptive people were to my music.
🌿💯🫶🏻
- Curiosity - and was waiting to test more web3 socials
- Iris app. They no build anymore :(
- an opportunity to reimagine social!
- It felt On-chain
So unique 💎
- I joined bc I wanted to mint the @lens/pussyriotxyz Proof of Protest NFT and you needed a Lens handle. Didn't really understand what Lens was until few months later when my fren @lens/mycaleum encouraged me to start posting my art/photos as collects on Lens. Stayed for the technology, ownership, art, culture and frens ❤️
- I don't want to be left behind on any crypto trends, in 2020, I was playing with DeFi for example. When I learned about lens, I wanted to give it a try too.
- I don't remember the name exactly, and I confess that the content is no longer fresh in my memory, but it was the open letter or manifesto. I found the ideas interesting and signed.
- Signing the letter on Twitter back then
- An opportunity to be part of web3 social, a space with crypto focus with less scammers, and a decentralised network.
- **LFGrow** Hackathon 😀
- Onchain 💚
- The promise of credibly neutral social graph fully owned by the user.
- Ownership and post replication on many dApps
- Curiosity
Been using DeSo for a while before joining Lens, but I wasn't pleased with the experience they provided. I wanted to try out other decentralized platforms as well, and to be honest, Lens has always been one that sparked my curiosity in some form. Also, the idea that I was following you for a while on Twitter perhaps played a role in enhancing my curiosity for this platform
Will always be grateful for the day you answered my DM haha🌹
- I obtained a profile for being part of the Developer DAO, but didn't use it much initially, until the Lens Summer event started.
That's when I decided to use this space the way I used the internet as a child in the 90s
- Curiosity was the main reason for me. Lens seemed to open up web3 in a way that was easy to relate with and the concept of one handle for everything was just amazing.
- I was an early adopter of Steemit/Steem Blockchain in 2017-18, and since then, Web3 social has been one of my passions. The idea of on-chain social platforms without frictions, silos, and censorship can introduce many new norms to the creator economy. Over time, we have the potential to reshape the entire internet, as eventually, everything is content.
So, that passion brought me to Lens, but you and @lens/nader also have some contributions on Devcon Bogota, at @lens/lens / @lens/aave desk 😅 We had a brief chat before your presentation, and I liked the vibe of the Lens team there.
- tbh i was just curious. always love trying new things. started with phaver and that was just the beginning. little did i know i’ll fall sooooo deep into the garden lmao!
- A community that no longer exists. I stayed because I like new tech.
- In all honesty, it was the colour and branding.
I really liked the green plant 🍀
That was all😹
I'm really easy to get
- Curiosity 👀
- saw a post on Twitter, fill my email in the blank, got my profile and start talking shit since then
- Ownership
- To connect with web3 minded and also
Earn through content creation...
- The best part is the power of using social media belongs to me.
- Experiencing another level of social media 🤘
- onchain idea
- i like how chill it is compared to twitter. twitter is too many threads and too much shouting. i just want a quiet life honestly, while still being connected and informed.
- Using apps with one profile without start from stratch 🌿
- Onchain wins 💪 , My first social app that is revolutional 🔥
- To dive into web3 socials!!
- Web3 values. Censorship resistance (I think, at least for now). No random ads.
