Post by @stani • Hey
Web3 users, how do we feel about emails? There isn’t yet email equivalent in web3 to distribute updates yet everyone has an email. Is it fine to use an ema

- Atm, we still use Web2 emails to receive updates from Web3 project.
How about if there is a web3 email that integrates with Lens as well?
So we just need to install an email app & receive updates from projects we want specifically, rather than an email that recieves hundred of Ads from Nike, Addidas for instance.
- Theres email web3 équivalents liké Dmail🤔
- what would a web3 email look like? just an alt front end for displaying widely sent lens dms?
- I think that emails are fine. Let's be real: even though web3 is mostly decentralized and there several dApps that serve different purposes, we need to find a match between web2 and web3 sometimes. It can't be EVERYTHING on web3, not in the next decade at least.
- assuming web3 projects can collect relevant email addresses I think email is still a fantastic tool.
Mid term I'm curious if DMlists might become a thing https://lenster.xyz/posts/0x017566-0xee ...
- Hehehehe but we all also have Instagram, TikTok and/or Facebook accounts… I guess we’ll keep having the email as long as nothing better appears.
If I would have a web3 email service reliable as my gmail account then I’ll definitely switch to it…
- Yes i like emails
- I don't like it. Hopefully, with time there will be some normal tool that will fully replace it and no one will not be asked to leave their Google mail, or worse yet register an account on it in a project that is associated with Web3.
This is especially bad in games. I don't like that in Illuvium my account is tied to my email. And what if services will be banned for political reasons, as it happened with the now hated by me project Big Times, where we registered game accounts through mail and bought NFT through it, and then they brazenly blocked our funds without the possibility to withdraw them from the account. Although even CEX Kraken was more humane and gave us 30 days to withdraw funds.
In general, web2 mail in web3 world is a superfluous element of centralization. It's not safe.
- Personally fine with it because I feel like I miss a lot of updates across all platforms, but I always check my emails. 🙃
- .lens email addresses plz
- There is actually something:
Deb0x.org
email protocol with built-in economic incentives
- Definitely fine. Unless you can replace a web2 thing with a better web3 thing then just use the original. The sentiment that anything web2 is bad is a short sighted kind of fundamentalism.
- I would suggest to add one way group tchat in @xmtp_.lens
- I like the emails as a perfect medium for rare, important messages that should not be ignored. When emails are sent to often it damages the importance of the message.
- Not in favor of emails
- Having polls would have helped us to see what people are primarily using emails for these days. I turned off all my notifications for all my socials, including messaging apps. I'm not sure I would like to get notifications of updates or reminders on my email. Although I have emails for different use cases, I like to keep them less crowded but rather use other tools for reminders. For productivity Things has been great, for reminders, Apple already has this built in..
- I use mail3
- It’ll be too much imo unless a sub folder can be created within the main email address for reminders
- I'm using skiff, isn't it a web3 email project?
- Nah!!! That's too much web2 😃 😃
- Web3 emails soon.
- email equivalent but in web3 is a good idea never see that before
- We have email dapps for web3
- According to me , there are already e-mail system in web3 like Ethermail , mail3 etc . Besides that another email system using lensprotocol is not a good idea at this moment, i think 💬
- Web3 email got to prove they can bring better privacy and utilities. In other words, web3 email have to provide something which web2 email are unable to do.
- I support lens having its own web3 email. Massive data flow of lens ecosystem open the window for lens to work on the big data and bring more new features/utilities to its email apps. Imagine lens users can use email not just for communication purposes but also for payment&verification purposes.
- Web3 Email is good. I just want something really reliable
- Agree with you. Web 3 emails are very needed.
- No emails in Web3, pls!
- There is something called ethermail_io which ironically seems good even though emails are hard core web2
- How about an email within the lens platform?
- Perhaps e-mail is already on the verge of being eliminated, but there is no new and better way to replace e-mail for information reminders
- its necessary and play a vital part in my job and also my daily life
web3 mail products are all trash for now, still its the first step for better mail services for web3 users in the future
- Actually, there is https://web3inbox.com
- Ethereum-based information sending can actually point to the corresponding address through the domain name, as long as the corresponding information monitoring in the front-end to do a certain display can achieve the function of the mailbox. Lens's handle is suitable to come with a part of the domain name function, it's not hard to achieve!
- wen #lens d email?
- please do not use email.
- Yes, a nice idea. But we have Dmail, ethermail, skiff and etc.
- no need of email at all
- might be cool to integrate nfts into emails more fun!
- Ethermail is trying to build something similar
- Yes I really think it's a good idea but then adding the subscribe or unsubscribe to it will make it less spammy, everyone has email so I highly love getting emails too.
- no email
- Check ethermail !
- email with lens together?
- there are many like Dmail and mail3
- emails nessory
- Dmail concept isn't bad , and I think there should be an integration with lens
- I never check on emails.
