Post by @christina • Hey
To all those Lens paying collectors out there - what drives you to collect? Give me the top reason.
Comments
- @brokeinvstr.lens looking at you 👀
- In that order:
1/ Support other creators
2/ Access to communities, especially if it comes with perks / utilities
3/ Bookmark something / collectible - tbh this one is not strong for me, have never been a fan of collecting NFTs for the sake of collecting (I prefer utility/community acces).
(4/ Pump my stats; today not at all optimizing for this, but one day maybe, there should be an incentive mechanism in place, beyond Lensport leaderboard e.g, “Lens collector of the month” that comes with a POAP which gives access to perks/utilities, or similar).
- Very interesting question; so far I have collected content because of this:
- Entry pass to communities:
@memester.lens & @ghostgang100x.lens made me connect with so many interesting builders and creators on Lens
- For the Art + Appreciate the creator beyond a Like and Mirror:
Some of the art has been super inspirational to look at/read, Lens is full of amazing creators, and it's only going to increase.
- Additional Perks/Surprises:
Being the first one to collect @ghostgang100x.lens came with a nice surprise in my mailbox as a gift hamper 😃
Collecting @ryanfox.lens #AREFLECTIVELENS photo series in December got me a Free Coffee Pass from his website which I already ordered, all in a web3 native way ☕
Of course, I wasn't aware of this while collecting but this permissionless nature of rewarding anyone, for anything also makes collecting content exciting. Oh and btw, all of this is just unheard of anywhere else on the internet.
- I collect those doing new and innovative things
- Collecting for, loving the content and because of want to own forever
- I reward those who generate value to my eyes, whether it is social, economic or otherwise… Money is an energy, it need to flow so that the greatest number of people can benefit
- To reward and acknowledge the creators primarily. It seems like the ultimate way to show appreciation.
- A Collect is like a golden Like.
- Displaying it on @molens.lens
- I don’t think 90% of new users know they can 🤷♂️😂
- Supporting the creator
- This order:
1-Utility
3-Supporting my My #Frens
2-Likeing the art
- Good ques
- for me its the best way to say thankyou for creating a thing i enjoy can you please create more.
- My baseline is always this:
-NFTs enable network formation.
-The list of collectors can become a network/community.
-The jpeg/mp3/text/etc is a representation(!) of my ownership of that network. It's a receipt.
-A community is people mutually invested in each other (financially/time/effort/otherwise).
Collecting allows me to prove my investment in a network/community.
Collecting allows me to support people worth supporting.
Crucially important:
Tools (apps) which allow collectors to use their NFTs as data, which enables more investment, faster. The creator creates data for the tool, the collector gets to use the data with the tool.
-I'm more willing to collect something on Sound.xyz at a premium price because I get my name, avatar, comment prominently displayed. I have a chance at winning the golden egg. And that song can be used in any app on Earth.
-When someone creates a TikTok-type "Stitch" application where you have to collect a video to stitch, video collects will skyrocket.
-When someone creates a Foundation or SuperRare-type app for Lens (or Lens integrates w/them) photo collects will skyrocket.
Until tools get made the mutual investments between creator and collector are entirely reliant upon the creator and collector.
- There should be some incentives for the top collectors. Like badges, drops etc.
- I consider it payment for a product I like or value. Support the creators in some small way.
- Lens has exposed me to e.g. photography, an area I was not interested in so far and I've learned to appreciate the work of people like @ryanfox.lens @chaoticmonk.lens and @grams.lens among others. I want to give back a little bit as a sign of appreciation and encouragement.
over the months, I've realized that there is a core group of creators here that I collect. only every now and then, someone new enters my collection. so being early got my attention. hopefully, creators who enter Lens at a later stage will also find an audience. I really want to encourage the Lens team - but really everyone - thinking about some curation efforts to highlight artists; efforts like the one with @refraction.lens come to mind which I liked a lot.
- 1) Support creators
2) be part of a community
3) For the content itself
- I personally collect what I feel has some kind of beauty and sincerity... Whatever it is, meme, music, art... I feel glad both to own it and help creators at my little level... 🙂
- supporting dope shit and encouraging other creatives to keep pushing. i know from personal experience that it's tough when you put a lot of time and effort into your work and there is no real guarantee that it will ever perform to any specific standard. sometimes a little appreciation can give us that much-needed push in the right direction. 😎 🙏🌿❤️

- As a Lens collector, what drives my passion for collecting is the excitement of discovering and owning unique and meaningful pieces of art that hold value not only in terms of their price tag but also in their cultural significance and impact. Every Lens in my collection tells a unique story, and as I add to my collection, I'm not just accumulating pieces, but weaving together a tapestry of my own. I'm constantly on the lookout for the rarest and most desirable pieces, and I relish the opportunity to connect with other collectors who share my passion. While the potential for long-term appreciation is certainly a draw, what truly makes collecting so fulfilling is the satisfaction of owning something truly special and meaningful. Whether it's a piece of art that holds personal significance or a cultural touchstone, the joy of holding something so special is what makes Lens collecting such a thrilling and rewarding experience.
LFG Lensters
- Most times for me is to encourage the artists, support a movement, seldomly because I love the artwork.
- Good content for the payment, but not easy for all the users to pay some money for what they could see or interact in lens.
- Support creators to bring more creators to speed up transition from web 2 to web 3
- I always liked to collect things. started with amphoras back then, now lens posts! times change!
- to encourage people
- Because i love @lensprotocol 4ever!

- Dream become true . #Lens Lens Protocol is $800 in the future
- For me the purpose of paying collectors is to witness and record major events on the blockchain. If we treat each collect as one NFT, then we become the NFT collectors. I believe in the future your DID can be verified by owning genuine NFTs.
- its not like a drive to collect.......its quite simple.
i like. i collect
- Each one looks for the drop from Lens now, so we all want to do more on Lens
But when we get used to it, we will not leave it.
