- ok, maybe I'm a little late to the party and the new current thing is that SBF is fighting with CZ.
Still, I was really confused by that discussion and I figured I'd share my thinking to see if anyone else was too.
I dont get SBF's argument that giving up frontends to centralization would be "less bad".
Regulatory logic
1/ maybe
2/ but mostly: it would likely accomplish 0 policy objective that other regs - like fraud - dont already address.
point is, regulators aren't asking for a "sacrificial lamb".
They re looking to accomplish policy objectives.
Why would they be happy with your sacrifice if it achieves nothing?
They might take it, because why not, it might be good for optics. But they definitely won't stop there, since it actually accomplishes nothing.
Tech-wise:
also, it's as possible for a DAO to ship decentralised front ends as it it to ship smart contracts. it s still just code that is downloaded, interpreted & ran locally (that s what html is). So, what would making frontends regulated (beyond what they already are) bring anything?
ENS+IPFS/Areeave or Threefold or ICP
experience might not be as sleek as a nice mobile app Γ la argent or ultimate, but legally & technologically I dont see a lot of difference.
