I do believe there are countries where free healthcare works really well, i.e. Finland. UK is somewhat if you are okay with lil bit waiting and mediocre health care. Another good thing about UK is that the private sector doctors are obliged to do some public health care hours as well so the expertise is not siloed into private markets. Canadian system is definitely not a great example of public health care and also usually taken as an example in US on how bad free health care is, which is sad.
