Lens is an open protocol so if someone wants to build an ads network its totally possible but up to the users to adopt it

- Adv on Lens is a complex topic, and much depends on how paid content is distributed.
In Web2, a social media brand decides what to show users, so you pay the platform to be visible.
But I don't think projects like Lenster or Lenstube should create an Adv tool and arbitrarily distribute paid content. This would be against having decentralized content on the frontends.
Three approaches make sense to me at this time:
1. Create a project or module that pays a fee to frontends to distribute paid posts, but this is challenging for many reasons. One is that some frontends could find ways to exploit it.
2. Leverage the creators in a more classic influencer marketing strategy, but this is boring.
3. Promote content virality from external platforms like Tide or similar.
Happy to talk if someone is interested in discussing this topic more in-depth.
- Lens is doing very well. There are still small hiccups holding people back, but one day it will dethrone twitter
- Well said
- Ads are very frustrating for the user I don’t like it
- Ads aren't necessarily bad, its just the whole surveillance capitalism thing that has really made ads evil. That and Edward Bernays of course lol
- After watching the advertisement, you can get nft for free, and the nft can be used as the proof of exchange rights and interests, which not only achieves the effect of advertising, but also can have a strong correlation with consumers.
- Yes, this is also the reason why web3 social is different from web2 social. There can be a lot of innovations on the open platform. Including the innovation of the advertising business model, I believe that the future advertising revenue will be shared by creators/curators/users, which is a very good way to increase the user stickiness of the platform. At the same time, the ROI of advertising may also be higher.
- Sounds fair, we're sick of all the web2 ads.
- Lens is doing very well
- That would actually be pretty cool but I don't want this to turn into another FB/IG.
- 100%,I love web3 social
- Hmmm this right here is alpha😶🌫️
