so far I've collected most of my NFTs with my main wallet; essentially it's a hot wallet. in the past, I have sent some NFTs to my Ledger but have neglecte

- What did you end up doing?
- I have the same problem. I suppose in the future it would be better to mint/buy NFTs directly into a TBA so that the entire collection could be sent to a cold wallet in 1 transaction.
This does bring up a further question about onchain reputation/identity. Considering that hot wallets are our public facing persona, how do we safely build a collection that represents our experiences, abilities, and relationships without risking its security with every new interaction. Building an onchain identity is like Russian roulette rn. Should we be sending POAPS to a cold wallet? Does the fact that it’s not sitting at the minting address make the experience less valid?
- imo the longer a wallet has stayed "hot", the less secure it is - and thus moving it to a cold one would defeat the purpose. I'd make a fresh wallet on the cold storage and transfer the most valuable stuff to it (its a pain, I know) .
For future minting, I'd buy everything "valuable" directly via the cold wallet.
For semi-casual mints I'd keep them on the hot wallet.
Planning to do this myself 😄
- arguably the cheapest way is to turn your hot wallet into a cold wallet and start with a new hot wallet. it's obviously not as secure as say a ledger as it's touched the network
- One thing you can do is just use the seedphrase of your hot wallet on a new HW wallet. Then you would delete the hot wallet from any device where you've entered the seedphrase. It's not as secure as starting with a new wallet that's never been "hot", but it's a good intermediate solution.
- Always good to be thinking about this stuff, and asking questions. Imo, it would be good to see more discussion around best practices for wallet security, and how #LensV2 will solve for this. 💯
- Transfer NFTs that make sense to hold, like your #lens profile and the most expensive ones. Keep the others on the hot wallet. The attacker won't steal your NFT if it's price lower than tx fee
