- I would rather see it go to ZERO to be honest, which would be good for crypto in the long run. Having fiat-backed stable coins be the backbone of "Defi" is such a mistake imho, as it exposes the whole space to a coordinated government attack and regulatory capture; the third party risk attached to these assets is off the charts.
Instead, the crypto sector needs to either come up with a sustainable algorithmic stable coin design or ditch stable coins all together. We need to go back to first principles and actually build an alternative financial system with Bitcoin and Ethereum as the units of account, not reconstruct the incumbent, permissioned financial system on the blockchain while still calling it "Decentralized Finance".
