imo projects should "build in public" and share their progress to get the community to rally behind them and build a following regardless but would be cool

Another reason why I like building in public is because it demystifies the creative process. To paraphrase Edison, being a creative is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. Everyone can do it!
