Web3 project does not need to have a Discord server just because its a web3 project, in fact I think you could build a community within Lens and have a mor
Comments
- I'm thinking about exactly that. I'm building a web3 project which will launch in May and we are thinking of building our community on Lens. Just sent you a DM
- I agree. I made a Discord server for #lenstopia, but really it's almost a ghost server. But anyway since all his access is token gated by nfts collected in Lens, it's super easy to migrate the same topic organization and hierarchy to a native Lens app... When "Lenscord"? 😛
- I completely agree. In fact, it would be great if almost every web3 developer whom is creating something in the web3 ecosystem, have their presence in Lens ecosystem. Stani, can people create Lens profiles freely or we are not in that point yet?
- big agree - @lensclubs.lens will enable this. also working on a Discord integration to make a smooth transition 😌
- mid term 💯
long term 💯💯 (literally everything will use a web3 social graph for social digital interaction (imho))
short term 🤔 for lens apps yes for sure. Not sure though how to structure the communication (1 post = 1 channel?).
For projects not building on lens (eg a Starknet gaming project) i am not sure how it can work with lens in closed beta 🤔.
- It seems that in a couple of years we will have a whole new degen grinding culture and the culture of community building, like the suddenly established Discord WL grinding meta In 2021.
And this culture will emerge through Lens and Dapps built on it.
This is my prediction. Thank you for your attention.
- My 2 Gwei is that we cannot phase out just one fine day, discord is a legit communication channel
Goal of marketing should be to reach in the existing channels too
If we understood this a lot less scaling fails and more user onboarding!
- Agree. Can you reach same structure and privacy with Lens?
- ... once anyone can join ☝️😅
- This is what I’m doing 🤭🍟
- Stani sometimes I fear myself
- I'm interested in exploring a decentralized approach and building a community around different projects or specific topics like #travel or #L2s. However, I'm still not sure how to go about creating a group or community within Lens, and whether it's possible to do so without using my personal account as the main stage. Can you share more information on how this can be achieved, and what other options are available for interacting with our audience beyond likes, mirrors, comments, and collects? Don't get me wrong, I don't see Discord as a viable option to create a community around travel or L2's, but might be more convenient for projects to interact with their audience and have a much better organization structure with their Discord servers.
- To have a Discord as a small piece of your cake is cool. Treating Discord as a sacred platform without which no project is legit is not.
- Someone had to say it. Discord is not web3
- i simply cannot argue with this opinion, still i love Discord in terms of mic chat when playing multiplayer games lol
- I am not a bot - bbeeeep boop.
- Agree. I was previously working on a community platform, mity.xyz (currently using DeSo) with the plan of building it more into a platform like Discord (I.e bots, integrations). Still think it would be nice. At least would be a start to switch it to Lens.
- At this stage I guess it's going to be a little bit hard, even Lensprotocol has a discord🤷♂️🤷♂️
- 100% agreed - can't wait for Lens community to take off as the norm for engagement. As a web3 marketer, it's a nightmare jumping between web2<>3 tools, not to mention the limited ways to know more about the project audience...
Hopefully long are the days when your Discord following mattered to VCs
- Death to discord!!!!
- Yup
- not everything needs to be decentralized tho, discord is way more convenient to stay up to date with different projects than lens (or even twitter)
- I couldn’t agree more, web3 projects should build their own web3 communities, rather than relying on web2 products. This would help decentralisation.
- In fact, web3 needs to have a community of decentralized
- Lens is cool but it is lacking many of the features that make managing a community so great in Discord
- Using #LensProtocol as a community-building tool would be a great way to leverage the benefits of a #decentralized platform and create a community that truly aligns with the values of the project. This approach can also help to build a stronger sense of community ownership and participation in the development of the project.
- We will build our own! Web3 people uses Web3 way to build community!
- agree, web3 dependency to discord and twitter when it come to communities is holding back the space...we should explore and be more fearless in trying new paths.
- Lens is number one in web3
- Agree. Discord is not web3!
- I agree, no need discord and twitter
- I think so. discord is not easy to use.
- I agree!!! Would it be possible to build a community here within Lenster?
- This is why we decided to go with alphascan.xyz more on Lens🫡
- too many scam project in web3
- The form of the community can be designed according to a whole set of independent system, a solution of instant communication is not limited to the form of DC
- Very ambitious idea. While centralization tools have their own advantages
- I agree. Lens's gonna make the future!
- Agree, but which app can be used as Lens own DC?
- I dont think so, Lens still need updates to be better
- This is a good idea
- I was discussing this with @hascoin.lens and @ali.lens
- God bless you, I'll be happy to get rid of discord!
- Agree. Can you reach same structure and privacy with Lens
- Yes, I agree! That’s why I’m starting my project roll out on Lens first ☝️
- Agree.
- This is the best server
- I agree, so is the community coming?
- In the future we can turn this on its head, come on!
- They are all platforms for communication, why use someone else's?
