the minute we start criticising musicians for experimenting with something new especially larger scale ones all it does is disincentivises others at that level to try something new. That sets us backwards and strengthens the status quo which sets us back. 99% of things won’t work, that’s ok. But if we don’t try then we won’t progress. We should reward it. When one of these work, it should shift a larger change that unfortunately sometimes needs spokespeople with power to make it happen
