- Nairobi-born, Berlin-based sound artist KMRU's music ushers you into a singular universe of his own creation βΒ one where field recordings from his native Kenya, and current home in Germany, live alongside sonic landscapes captured during his travels around the globe, mixed with experimental electronics, and playful production techniques.
Without fail, each of KMRU's releases will teleport you to a different place in his artistic cosmos β his meditative musings of *Peel* occupy a world that is distinct from the glittering electronica of *Logue*, for example. KMRU's latest album, called *epoch*, teleports you further still. Its 9-tracks live in a spiritual home that is akin to Yasuaki Shimizu's brilliant *Music For Commercials,* with a similar penchant for brevity.
However, no matter what you're listening to, a beautiful luminescence radiates throughout all of KMRU's meticulously undulating output. Sometimes the feeling is overwhelming, summoning the kinds of emotions that make you suddenly inhale sharply, catching yourself before it all comes tumbling out. Elsewhere, it conjures a kind of aural stillness equivalent to a misty, desolate lakeβs surface at sunrise.
In short: KMRU continues to evolve into one of the world's most talented and captivating sound artists. He is a unique creative force, whose career is, relatively speaking, only just beginning. β¨
