How do you quantify economic value of biodiversity?

I think it’s measured in emotional value, let me try to explain. In thinking about the question, we can deduce it to the ecosystem participants and what the positive &/or negative effects of a well oiled machine would be on those inhabitants. If it’s humans the positive/negative effects translate into how we feel while we’re in that environment and will it be a pleasant or unpleasant experience, if it’s nature we’re talking about then you can see the negative economic effects in a situation like deforestation. Which I would argue speeds up the decline of the biodiversity in the area, while simultaneously increasing the costs needed to bring the region back to its former state. Humanity doesn’t feel good when it sees something like the effects of deforestation, because now the natural beauty is gone. I hope that makes sense, I tried to condense my thoughts down into a social media reply but…. Honestly @stani this would probably need its own full length blog post for me to fully expound and flesh out some of the thought processes around this topic.
