I think I mentioned this before, I fancy most innovaiton be market tested on L2s and upon the need brough into Ethereum itself.

I’d argue for event he need to be brought into L1. I’d argue most of today’s TX types are better handled by L2. IMHO, L1 block space is premium real state.
